Your Page Title is the most important factor, not only in getting better, more relevant Google rankings, but also in getting people to click through to your page. This applies not only to people clicking on your site in Google, but also clicking on it in Facebook or other social media sites.
Your sites Page Title is controlled by default by the title of your post or page, but it can be altered by using an SEO plugin such as my preferred Yoasts WordPress SEO. So you can have the title on your page different from your ‘SEO Page Title’. The SEO Page Title will be the one that appears in other parts of your website if you use a recent posts news feed or related posts suggestions, it will appear in the top of your browser, it will appear in Google and it will be shown when someone links to you in Facebook and most other social media sites.
It really is worth taking the extra 5 minutes to craft a great Page Title; after you’ve gone to all the effort of creating the page and it’s content already, it is a shame to waste it by creating a bad title that people aren’t interested in clicking on.

Simply stuffing keywords into your page title does not look good to anyone, especially not Google. Your page title should have a message and read naturally.

A common mistake is to have the websites title in the beginning of the page title on every page of your site. You are better off having your keyword towards the start of the Title.

There are 2 things wrong with this title, it is far too long to start with, there is really no point having a title longer then 70 characters. Also the keyword appears too late in the title, Google puts more emphasis on the first few words.

Another really bad mistake is to have the same title on every page of your website, this makes it harder for the search engines to tell the difference between your pages, some may even be ignored as duplicates.

This example is simply too short, the best titles are between 50 and 70 characters long. It also doesn’t mean much to the reader or people that might be looking for information.
